Injured!

So J. and M. were all decked out in swimming gear ready to go into our wading pool, which I was getting ready to fill (oops - disobeying a current water regulation in Lubbock which I had forgotten about when I promised J. I'd do it. . .). J walked onto our storm cellar door (metal), and ran off screaming that it was hot. M. decided to follow, of course. However, instead of running when his feet hit the sun-baked door, he stood and screamed in indignation before SLOWLY stepping off. I ignored his continued cries, figuring that he'd be distracted enough when the pool was filled up (it's a bit of a boy-who-cried-wolf situation).

Well the pool was a distraction. . . but only for a few minutes. He started whimpering and looking up at me complaining - quite unusual for a boy who LOVES splashing and water play. So I remembered the walking on the door thing, went to pick him up, and sure enough he pointed to his feet and cried. I looked at the bottoms, and they were pink and swollen - a few minutes later two blisters would pop up on his right foot. Screaming and crying even more ensued after I tried bactine and then baking soda/water mix. I called my pediatrician . . . who didn't call back for an hour!!! In the meantime, I called two nurse friends of mine in Lubbock, AND our Philadelphian pediatrican, Dr. Ann - who was home in Houston and took a house call of mine for the SECOND time since we've been here! I need to find a local doc who will call me back more quickly!

Anyhow, the little guy whimpered and stayed off his feet for the rest of the day, but next morning, bandage, socks, and shoes and he was off running as per usual.

So happy ending!

um, let's see

What else can I write about these days?

Um, Um, Um. . . .

The boys were guests at a pool the other day, and to my surprise (we were at a kid's wading pool), Micah was a little bit clingy - reminded me of when we visited the Olmstead's pool, and Josiah was petrified. Micah warmed up a little more that Josiah, but it was still interesting, and good to see that Micah has SOME sense of healthy fear. Meanwhile, he is quite unfazed at going down pretty high/steep slides at the playground.

Church continues to be good, we're still a good fit, and you can now hear Jim's sermons online at: www.providencepca.org

Um.

Okay, let's face it, nothing to say. But I have pictures! Anyone else out there into Canon DSLR's? I have some lens questions. And tripod questions, for the non-Canon specific photographers out there. email me!

Go Spurs!

See, I really am from Texas! This jersey is from our friend Rebecca Harmon, who picked it up in FRANCE three years ago, where it sold prominently aside Michael Jordan and Shaq jerseys. . . .

I'm quite thankful that she didn't buy us a statue of the Eifel Tower or something.

A few nights ago we were all watching a Spurs game, and Josiah insisted that we all wear our "basketball shirts":

This picture also captures Josiah drinking from a water bottle, which he loves to do!

The kids don't really have that much patience for watching sports games on TV, so we're thankful that the finals games are all on at 8 central time - they can enjoy about half an hour and then go to bed, then Jim and I can watch the rest of the games in peace.

a month!

Yes it's been a month since I blogged. I've gotten caught up in some other projects. Ah well.

Sorry there's only one photo this round, and not much news. Blogger is giving me lots of errors as I try to upload shots. . .
